Way of Looking

Way of Looking

Some days.
Under false pretenses,
I look happy.
I converse, observe, interact.
With an actor's instinct,
I tell myself to smile.

Most days.
Under false pretenses,
I dodge thoughts of:
Disease. Old age.
Certainty of death.
Uncertainty after death.

In a recurring state.
When my past and present,
Explore my future
The equilibrium of my mind,
Swings into a mood of oblivion.
Then, I feign my own end!
